Born in 1994, Giovanni “Gio” Jose Techan Desir was a resilient U.S. Marine whose life reflected faith, service, and a strong commitment to protecting others. His fellow Marines called him “Preacher” for his spiritual leadership and “Batman” for his selflessness. Although he passed away in 2018 at age 24, his legacy endures through Gio’s House of Hope and Restoration.
Founded by his parents, Chantal and Joselito Desir, this non-profit honors Gio’s Haitian heritage by providing holistic support to orphaned and underprivileged children, following wherever Jesus leads, and ensuring his spirit continues to inspire hope.
