Age & Legal Requirements (By Cycle)

Haitian National Standards Alignment

In accordance with Haitian national standards, children must be a certain age by the start of the academic year (typically October) to enroll.

Preschool

Kindergarten

Children must be between 3 and 5 years old.

Primary School

First Cycle (Grades 1–3)

To join 1st Grade, a child must be at least 6 years old.

Upper Primary School

Second Cycle (Grades 4–6)

To join 1st Grade, a child must be at least 9 years old.

Many children in Haiti miss school years due to financial hardship. To address this, the school actively invites over-age students into lower grades. Admissions staff conduct a foundational evaluation to determine proper placement, rather than relying on strict age cutoffs.

Required Documentation

Parents or guardians must give these official documents before joining:

01

Acte de Naissance (Birth Certificate)

Identity & Age Verification

Provide an official copy or record from the national registry (Extrait des Archives Nationales) to prove identity and age.

02

Carnet Scolaire (Previous Report Card)

Grades 2–6 Requirement

For Grades 2–6, submit proof of successful completion of the prior grade from a MENFP-recognized institution.

03

Vaccination Record

Health Assessment

Recent health or vaccine records are needed.

Academic Placement & Holistic Fit

Parental Alignment over Financial Status

You are eliminating financial barriers by providing free uniforms, materials, and meals. Your admission criteria can highlight parental alignment over financial status.

Evaluation

Diagnostic Evaluation

New students entering Fundamental Cycles (Grades 1–6) complete a brief assessment in basic literacy (Creole/French) and numeracy, which measures their reading, writing, and math skills. This is not to reject a child. The purpose is to place students where they can thrive and address any learning gaps.

Agreement

Parent Agreement

Parents or guardians must sign a form promising to ensure their child comes to school, helps them study at home, and attends all required school meetings.

Values

Support for Values

Families must agree to support the school’s Christian environment, focus on good character, and community service.
