It is estimated that Haiti has 1 million orphaned children.
Before the earthquake hit on January 12, 2010, Haiti had 380,000 children without parents. That number has continued to rise to an estimated 1 million children.
Gio's House of Hope and Restoration was founded to help meet the physical, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs of the orphaned children and the community in Haiti. We focus our efforts in prevention, intervention, and community outreach such as food and supply drives. Once completed, our orphanage will provide safe housing, education, and healthcare for 40 children.
Gio's provides children with an environment of compassion, kindness, and education while empowering them to become everything they are capable of becoming in life.

Joselito and Chantal (St. Brice) Desir started Gio's House of Hope and Restoration to honor the life of their late son, LCPL Giovanni (Gio) Jose Techan Desir.
Gio, a marine, was proud of his Haitian heritage and was passionate about helping those in need.
Throughout his 24 years of life, Gio loved everyone, especially children, and was loved by many.
Gio lives on in all the hearts he left behind, and through Gio's House of Hope and Restoration, we carry his legacy forward.
